Sweet Daddy, 2003. Video by Bill Kuykendall
Fifteen years of broken strings, missed notes, bad timing. Fifteen years of no crowds, small crowds, huge crowds. Fifteen years of opening for the Krayons, Dick Dale, the Lemonheads, the Queers, and Papa Roach (and about 1000 shows in between). Fifteen years of songs and only a handful of recordings to show for it. Fifteen years of tight harmonies, even better one-liners and a trail of pissed-off people in Sweet Daddy’s wake. It was worth every minute of it.
Start with “The Make,” Sweet Daddy’s debut album from 1997.
Here’s a capsule:
Drinking man’s power pop with a Faulkner twist. Graceful Southern charm that goes down like Jack Daniels in the summertime on this debut CD. Marshalls, Paul Reed Smith and the driest wit around. It’s all good.
